Pushing beyond limits to realize big dreams – Vanina Ickx
“Racing is the search for perfectionism,” says Vanina Ickx as she prepares for the legendary ‘Pikes Peak International Hill
Climb’ in Colorado. “It’s about competing with myself and discovering my limits.”
Vanina Ickx, rally driver and daughter of the famous Belgian rally pilot Jacky Ickx is taking up the challenge of racing
to the clouds in Colorado.
“Racing, to me, is not about beating others, it’s about competing with myself, about finding my limits”, says Vanina. And
indeed this race will be extremely challenging, both for the driver and for the car. This race is for daredevils
only since it is a breathtaking sprint of almost 20 km to the summit at an altitude of 4,031 meters. If you’ve never
made the drive up America’s Mountain, you may not realize just how stunning this race is.
“Recently I was asked if I would like to participate in this race together with Automobiles Gillet. They would build a phenomenal
car for me to race to the clouds, and I couldn’t say no to this.“
delaware and Automobiles Gillet, the Belgian manufacturer of exotic supercars noted for the Vertigo model, are pooling their
strengths to help Vanina achieve her dream. They have built the most spectacular car with top-notch technology to
support Vanina in pushing her limits to go faster, to take the perfect curve and compete with some of the world’s
best racers/(or: best drivers).
Are you curious to watch Vanina tackle that steep climb in a Vertigo made completely out of linen (yes, the textile)? Do
you want to discover how she uses the latest in IoT (Internet of Things) in her desire to become ever better and
beat the competition. Stay tuned for more next week.
